update on Noah's appointments

Noah has been winning every one's hearts this week as we've met with a few new doctors and specialists. He's so stinkin' cute and sweet, that everyone just falls in love with him. Our appointments went well... At the meeting with the geneticist Tuesday we didn't really learn anything new, but left with some reassurance because she didn't feel Noah had any significant disorders. However, she did notice that there might be a less serious genetic disorder going on, so she ordered some blood work, and we'll get results of some tests in a couple of weeks. Nothing we're too concerned about at all. We learned that all the muscles that are weak for Noah (abdomen, neck & mouth) are all connected. So the doctor was happy to hear that Noah is receiving physical therapy to strengthen his abs and neck as this will also help his muscles in his mouth. Feeding therapy at Mary Free Bed went great Tuesday and we go back again tomorrow. They're doing all kinds of cool things to stimulate and strengthen the muscles in Noah's cheeks and mouth. We also have a dietitian giving advice and that has been very helpful to find foods that Noah can eat easily and he enjoys. He is definitely making some big improvements in speech and eating if we look back over the past several months. I sometimes get frustrated because he's not where I would like him to be, but he has come a LONG way and is saying so many words and eating much more that when he first came home. Just tonight, for example, here are some of the words (phrases) that Noah said: "my my papa,"(bye bye grandpa), "mo mame" (more game), "ny ny maby" (night night baby). So sweet!!!

Sunday we leave for 3 days to a little get-away to Great Wolf Lodge. The girls are SO excited! (Noah will be, too, once we get there and he sees how much fun it is!). I'll be sure to post pictures next week of all our fun.

Thanks for the update. I did call Mom yesterday to see how everything went and she said it was all good. It's good to get more of the details from you. I was going to ask you on facebook how it went, but it looks like you are giving up facebook for Lent. Hope that goes well for you. Have a great time at Great Wolf. We'll miss ya on Sunday!

Amy-I hope you have a great time at Great Wolf. We are off to Kalahari water park in Sandusky for a couple of days next week as it is Jon' spring break and we are going with some other professor friends and their kids. Have fun!
