PEDAL!

I probably don't have to tell you that riding bikes is a pretty big deal in our family. Brent and I started the hobby together while we were dating (LONG ago!) and it's been such a fun thing to do as a family. The girls picked up pedaling by the time they were 2 and were balancing and pedaling on their own by age 3. Ever since we can't slow them down! Noah has been content to ride along in the Burley, but we have been working very hard and getting him to ride independently. He started 2 years ago with his balance bike. It's a mini-bike with all the components except for pedals and brakes. He learned to balance right away and immediately started finding the biggest hills he could go down to get speed. No fear, this kid! But pedaling, however, has been a different story. His legs are very weak and coordination a little lacking. So we've been working very hard. The progress is painfully slow. But yesterday, Brent worked with him for an hour or two, and he started pedaling! It was such a huge accomplishment and he was so proud! The poor kid, though, has to ride the girls' old bike, which is PINK with kitties! Not so good for his ego! Oh well. He was so proud that he could start to pedal, even though it was slow and he had to concentrate very hard. But we're excited about the progress he's making and will continue to make this summer! Pedal, Noah, pedal!
